There are many stories behind the Easter Bunny. Some of them refer to pagan cultures and myths around religious celebrations. Whatever the case, there is the undeniable fact that nowadays everytime Easter approaches, many people around the world start making egg hunts, decorating eggs, buying bunny outfits and so many more.
In Colombia, many of these traditions have become very popular recently and that's why curiosity arises around the story of the Easter Bunny. Well, let's start by clarifying that NO, Easter Bunny is NOT in the bible and it is not related to the resurrection of Jesus.
Easter Bunny is actually a symbol of spring and renewal which has become integrated through the centuries into the holiday's celebration. It is not a myth nor a religious fact, it is just mere tradition now!
So, should we keep these traditions of eggs hunts and eggs decorations in Colombia? Why not? The fact that people get so excited around this should be motive enough. Whatever the origin is, it is a nice way to teach everybody about other cultures around Easter, and if in the process, we happen to eat and share some awesome chocolate, who are we to stop that?
Happy Easter Holidays!
